This wine is an Entre-Deux-Mers or “between 2 Seas”.  Actually the vineyards are “between 2 rivers “ in south western France.  The blend is Sauvignon Blanc (70%) and Semillon.  It has a golden color and pears with floral aromas on the bouquet.  It is well balanced and full bodied with citrus and apples on the palate and a very generous finish.

LAYA 2013, Old Vines, Bodegas Atalaya (ES)

Deep, dark cherry color with a bouquet of ripe fruit.  The palate offers great flavors of herbs, licorice and even fennel.  Firm tannins and a lingering finish with cinnamon in the background. This wine is a blend of the Mediterranean grapes Garnacha Tintonera and Monastrell. Barrel aged in French oak for 4 months.  Sharp looking label.
