CHATEAU HAUT-TERRE-FORT 2012 (FR)
This wine is an Entre-Deux-Mers or “between 2 Seas”. Actually the vineyards are “between 2 rivers “ in south western France. The blend is Sauvignon Blanc (70%) and Semillon. It has a golden color and pears with floral aromas on the bouquet. It is well balanced and full bodied with citrus and apples on the palate and a very generous finish.
LAYA 2013, Old Vines, Bodegas Atalaya (ES)
Deep, dark cherry color with a bouquet of ripe fruit. The palate offers great flavors of herbs, licorice and even fennel. Firm tannins and a lingering finish with cinnamon in the background. This wine is a blend of the Mediterranean grapes Garnacha Tintonera and Monastrell. Barrel aged in French oak for 4 months. Sharp looking label.
