TOSCA – π Free Summer Opera presented by New York Opera Conservatory
Tosca is among the most popular operas ever written that has captivated audiences for generations. Set in Rome during Italy’s war against Napoleon, this tragic story revolves around a singer who finds herself torn between love and duty. Caught in a web of political schemes, her love for a painter propels her into a journey where lives hang in the balance. Unforgettable characters, including the truly despicable villain, Scarpia, add depth and intensity to this timeless work. This opera features the famous aria, “Vissi d’arte”.
The Taconic Opera summer program for emerging opera singers, New York Opera Conservatory (NYOC), offers an opportunity to hear the upcoming generation of professional singers as they gain valuable experience perfecting their craft. Established in 2018, the NYOC allows singers to gain valuable hands-on experience through actual performance.
Each performance includes the full staged opera. With up to 4 casts, each show offers a unique experience.
