Eclipse Glasses Available

Program Description

Event Details

Starting April 1, we will have safe solar-viewing glasses available for free at the Library.

  • Ask for them at the main circulation desk, any time during the Library’s regular hours.
  • Maximum 2 pairs of glasses per person.
  • Please read the instructions printed on the glasses to ensure you use them correctly, and check out for safety details.

Check out our other eclipse activities: A Zoom talk with author and eclipse-chaser David Baron on March 26, and a documentary screening of NOVA’s “Eclipse Over America” on April 1.

Thank you to the STAR Library Network for providing glasses to public libraries all over the country!

  • The eclipse will be visible in our area between 2:11 and 4:36 PM. The peak will be around 3:25 PM.

To safely observe a solar eclipse, it’s essential to use proper eye protection, such as eclipse glasses or solar filters, to prevent permanent eye damage. The only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed Sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as “eclipse glasses” or handheld solar viewers.
